Products

Products are a type of items that are produced in work orders by incorporating materials and operations into recipes. The cost of the finished product is formed as the sum of the cost of the inputs and the cost of the operations required to make it.

Example:
You need to produce water/H2O.

For this purpose, you need to create two materials in the Prim.IO nomenclature – “Oxygen” and “Hydrogen”, and one product “Water”. Since water is a chemical compound of 2 atoms of hydrogen and 1 atom of oxygen, to reflect it, you need to enter a recipe for the product. The recipe should include 2 units of Oxygen material and one unit of Hydrogen material. Furthermore, the “blending” of the two materials should also be reflected in the system because it brings additional value to the process. These are activities such as mixing, measuring, etc., let’s generally call them Operation Labor.

The “compounding” of the materials in the system, mixing them through a “Labor” operation and converting them into a finished product “Water” occurs through a “Work Order” process.

Once you have entered the materials into the nomenclature, the next step is to create a product.

How are products created in Prim.IO?

  class=

Products are created from the menu Logistics > Settings Warehouse and Logistics > Nomenclature with the Item button. The button opens the interface for creating an item.

  class=
The following fields are required:

Type (1)

Select a product type from the drop-down menu in the box.

Name (2)

Fill in the name of the product you are creating.

Measure (3)

In what measure or measures the product will be led.

Category (4)

Select which category your product falls into from the drop-down menu of the already created categories. You can read more about working with and creating categories here.

More information about all the fields, including the optional ones on the interface for creating an item of any kind, can be found here.

Once you’ve created the products, the next step is to assign recipes to them, with materials to go into them. This is done from the Logistics menu> Warehouse and Logistics Settings> Recipes. Get more information about the recipes here.
